We are a small family owned and operated fully certified organic winery in the Okanagan Valley
Nestled between the two houses of the Paynter brothers, Off the Grid Organic Winery is the natural evolution of this family's 100 years and five generations of farming in Westbank (now West Kelowna). With sustainability at the forefront of their practice, the family is excited to welcome you to their property.
When you come to visit OTG, you'll notice the experience is like no other. You'll be greeted by our friendly winery goats & sheep, enjoy unobstructed views of Okanagan Lake, experience your wine tasting in a fully sustainable, straw bale construction, solar powered, building. After you can take a walk around the property and visit with the animals or enjoy a bite to eat at the Roots Sustainable Eats Food Truck.

Sheri Paynter - Winemaker
Sheri Paynter is part owner and wine maker at Off the Grid Organic Winery. Sheri was born and raised in West Kelowna, Sheri started her hospitality career as a chef and her and her husband Travis Paynter operated a restaurant in West Kelowna from 2002-2010. This is where Sheri developed her love for wine and food pairings. Planting the first Vineyards for Off the Grid in 2007 they lay the groundwork for the winey to open in 2015, with their first vintage coming from their very first acre in the 2014 Gewurztraminer.
Sheri is extremely passionate about Organic wine and set her goals to be one of the very few full certified organic winery’s in BC, with the vineyards certified by 2010 and the full wine line up receiving its certification in 2019.
You can also enjoy one of her wine and food pairings if you book a wine and bites tasting when you visit the winery.
Chandra Paynter - Viticulturist
Chandra Paynter is sister to the two brothers who own Off the Grid Winery and part of the founding company that operates Off the Grid’s vineyards. Chandra was born and raised in West Kelowna, spending several years working oversees and in the USA, Chandra retuned to West Kelowna to take the position as head viticulturist at Off the Grid shortly after opening their doors in 2015.
Chandra was brought up farming from a small child and has a passion for permaculture and organic practices. You will see Chandra most days not only tending to our vineyards but ensuring the winery plants and trees look amazing!
